We have gone back out and put in two new openers. Mr Lakhi and I spoke and he told me that David deserves 10 stars for the work provided. We really appreciate being able to make our customers happy. We know that you will not have to worry about these for years to come! Thank you so much for trusting Precision to provide quality work for you.

On Monday, Sept. 29, 2014 I called the Precision Door Service Office to report a malfunction with my garage door not closing properly. Mr. Gary Morkassel was sent to service the problem with my garage door. He adjusted the springs, tightened all hardware, aligned safety eyes, tightened brackets, rewired safety eyes, adjusted opener travel and lubricated the tracks. I paid the price for the service, which totaled $155.00. On Monday, Oct. 6,2014 I returned from a trip to Pittsburgh, Pa. and I discovered that my garage door was wide open. I closed the door and on Tuesday morning Oct. 7, 2014 I found that my door was wide open again. I call the Precision Office again to advise of the problem I was having again. Mr. Morkassel showed at the garage at 9:30am to checked the problems with the door. He decided to erase all opener codes and reprogram two transmitters, which are used to open and close the doors. I was charged a price for this service of $55.00, which covered the 10 minutes that involved this particular secondary repair. Mr. Morkassel did a good job of repairing the garage door, but it would have been better if the repairs could have been completed on the first repair call, which may have saved me additional costs.

William, We appreciate you taking the time to write in, and ultimately, we're glad we were able to get everything back to proper working order. With regard to your door being open when you were out of town, this typically indicates that a neighboring transmitter may be intercepting the frequency on your opener. A first step solution would be wiping and reprogramming all codes. Based on Gary's feedback, it sounds like this took care of that particular issue. Since there wasn't an indication of a signal issue at the time of our initial repair, wiping and reprogramming all codes wasn't a necessary step to take. Instead, our initial visit corrected the known problem at the time, which was balancing the door and ensuring a safe and easy opening/close function. We do apologize if there was any confusion regarding these two separate issues. Again, we are glad that everything was ultimately taken care of and we appreciate you giving us the chance to make it right. As an extra step for Precision, we will be sure to communicate thoroughly in instances such as these.

I regret to say we were unable to use your service. I called about a broken spring repair. I was not expecting the price quoted. I have gotten 3 estimates to fix a single broken spring, all inclusive labor etc. A1 Garage Repair: $129.00 Economy Garage Doors: $138.00 Precision: $293.00 I will accept part of the blame for not fully understanding your price before the service technician arrived at our house. However, the $55.00 service fee is out of line. You markup of parts cost is too much. Your costs for labor are too high. I have given 3 star rating only because the technician, Tom, was courteous and professional. I am sorry we were not able to do business. Your pricing is not even remotely competitive. The attempted collection of the $55.00 service fee when no work was performed was tacky. (I know Tom was just doing what he was told to do.) Approximately 20% ($55.00) of your total cost for this service is for absolutely nothing. You really need to drop this fee from your costs.
- Allan Hench
Thanks for the response, Allan. Your feedback is very important to us, so we appreciate your reaching out. Since work wasn't performed, we've confirmed that all charges have been waived. With respect to pricing, though we're unable to speak for other garage door service companies here in Columbus, our pricing reflects a few very important factors that we feel are crucial when considering a replacement or repair (of any kind) on your garage door. First and foremost is your safety. It's our priority at Precision Door to execute the safest solution for repair. Sometimes this could mean that there may be more going on than what we were initially called out to inspect. When encountering this, we immediately inform the customer, so that they're updated and educated as to why it may be needed. We believe that when it comes to the customer, providing an ultimate solution with an outstanding warranty is best practice. This will result in fewer repairs over the course of time and again, the safest solution. Speaking to the hardware quoted, we always recommend replacing both springs. Like the headlights on your car, if one goes out, the other is likely to soon follow. Your pre-existing (unbroken) spring had equal wear compared to the spring we were sent to replace, so recommending the replacement of both is the safest option. If we were to only replace a single spring, this would increase the work required to lift your door on an already fatigued spring. As a result, this could also shorten the life of your new spring and all surrounding hardware, because they'd be working that much harder to accommodate the spring. Additionally, it's important to consider the quality of the product being installed. Our Precision torsion springs are oil tempered, galvanized and rated at 30,000+ cycles. We'd be happy to further elaborate on any of the hardware that was quoted for repair on our visit. Finally, we'd like to apologize that we weren't able to meet your repair needs, but hope that you'll consider Precision for future garage door repairs.

I order the Stratford 2000 with cascade windows. Tim came to my house last summer & gave me an estimate. I ordered from Precision due to the experience I had with Tim last summer, I felt he answered all my questions. But this experience wasn't all pleasant. First of all, when Tim came to my house & my husband gave him a $50 off coupon he grumbled under his breath about it to him. I figured since we were paying a lot for the garage door, this wouldn't be a big deal! Secondly, Tim told my husband he would be here on Sunday, he never showed up. We assumed he would be here on Monday, never showed up. I had to call on Tuesday to see what happened. No one called me BUT emailed me instead!!! This is highly unprofessional since I work & I don't have time to check emails. I check them once a week since I have so many work emails. The lady told me he would call me again they emailed..when I told her this was impersonal she left me a message finally!!
- Teria Lynch
I'm sorry that your experience felt frustrating and I'm glad we were able to take care of the issue. Our technician and office staff spoke with your husband multiple times and informed him that the windows were on back order and we would reach out as soon as we received them. Your husband agreed to go ahead with the door installation and agreed to allow us to come back and install the windows at a later time. The next day after the door installation, in response to your message regarding the windows, we again reached out and confirmed that your order would be completed as soon as we received the windows. Once we obtained the windows our technician came out the same day to install them. We attempted to respond to your multiple communications by phone and were unable to reach you. We tried emailing you as a secondary way of communication. We appreciate your business and hope to work with you again in the future.

Called to schedule a service in the morning and had a technician at my home the same day. I was pretty sure I had a faulty garage door unit but I wanted confirmation from a professional. I was told there was a $55.00 service fee which was fine. The technician confirmed my initial thoughts and then said he had to charge me an additional $50.00 labor. I felt this was a bit excessive since nothing was fixed. He did perform an inspection of springs, pulleys etc..but the garage door was just installed 6 months ago so I knew all that was okay. I felt i had to have him do something for the additional $50.00 which the inspection took 5mins. I was then informed to call Genie and that it was a bad circuit board and that it was under warranty. I was then told it would be another $50.00 for the tech to return to install. I'm in the service business as well and I get the service charge and a $50.00 per hour labor rate but I feel the circuit board should be installed at no extra charge once it arrives, and or the additional $50.00 should not have been charged with the first service. Needless to say I will install the circuit board myself, and will not use precision door in the future. With that said Gregg the tech was very professional and actually showed up early for the appointment! He also called Genie and gave them all the information and confirmed the bad circuit board. Very helpful but I still feel I was overcharged.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review and we appreciate your feedback. Looking over your review, although we did perform the service of balancing and lubricating your door, we've contacted you in an attempt to refund the labor that was charged. In regards to moving forward with installing warrantied hardware from a different company, since Precision wasn't responsible for the installation of your door and opener, all work would be billable. We truly appreciate your business as a Precision customer and feel comfortable refunding the cost of labor. We hope in the future you choose Precision Door for your garage door repairs.

the original installation by Precision was done efficiently and competently. The technician seemed knowledgeable and was helpful in explaining how everything worked. When a repair was needed we went back to the source. The tech this time was friendly and understood that I was concerned about the problem and the solution. Very pleased

Quickly diagnosed my garage door opener problem. I was given an estimate to replace the garage door opener and decided to go with a system that was of much lower cost and compatible with the other garage door.

The work was fine and relatively timely in terms of arrival and completion. When other similar firms responded to my inquiries, I found your pricing to be decidedly at the high end. Given the price disparity, it's impossible to give you more than three (3) stars.

Charged $50 to come out and tell my Spring was broken, which I knew, asked for it to be repaired. Work was fine and it was done quick, but think the price was high for this.
- Scott Curry
I'm glad we were able to get to you quickly and take care of everything in a prompt manner. With regard to the $50, every job our technicians are dispatched to include a service fee that pays for his travel expenses to get him onsite at your convenience. Being a full-service company, we always do our best to get to our customers same-day and at their convenience. That being said, we very much appreciate your business with Precision! I'd like to extend a $25 coupon upon your next service request- just mention this review. Also, please feel free to contact us anytime for additional questions, concerns, etc. We're available 24/7.

Tech nice guy, did a good job, happy with quality and everything except final price. For the work completed thought price should have been 20-25% less.
- Douglas Gamble
Thanks for your prompt response, Doug. We truly appreciate your business and loyalty and apologize that our pricing was a little higher than you originally anticipated. I did look at the repairs that were done on Eric's visit and it looks like additional work was needed outside the complete overhaul. Please know that when it comes to the hardware that was installed on your door (springs, end and center bearings, rollers, drums, cables, bottom brackets and torsion tube), we only install top-of-the-line hardware at Precision Door. We pride ourselves in offering not only an ultimate solution for all our customers, but the best possible hardware solution so, over the course of it's use, you'll begin to see the difference. We'd be happy to provide any additional information upon request. Finally, as a small token of our gratitude, we'd like to extend a $40 coupon upon your next visit or needed repair. We also have coupons for both door and opener installations that we'd be happy to extend your way if ever needed- just reference this response or any coupon available at the time!

Emily quoted me $64-$118 per torsion spring, installed (listen to your recorded call), no service fee if work was done. I repeated torsion springs a few times & wrote it all down. She also said the tech would give me the actual quote for everything needed, but $118 was the most for a torsion spring. Very surprised when it was $180 per torsion spring (w/discount).. I advised what Emily said, but was told that is for the regular springs on side & she must have thought I meant those. I made sure Emily knew it was torsion springs on top, I specifically asked several times. She checked again & said yes, the torsion springs on top. So 2 torsion springs and 3 bearings was $559.00, that was with $100 discount. Not even the best coated torsion springs, just the basic. I feel Emily deceived me. The tech was nice & knew what he was doing. Your people that make appointments should give actual prices when asked. I was caught off guard. Needed new rollers too but it would have costs $900. Given 3 stars because Emily was deceptive. People want to know ahead of time, an estimate. Imagine if I had been elderly & on a fixed income. Please train your phone staff to be more transparent.
