A year ago, I hired Precision Garage Door of Columbus to install a new garage door and opener. From the start, their team was professional, friendly, and efficient. The installation was seamless, and everything worked perfectly over the past year. Recently, I noticed a new noise when opening and closing the garage door. I called Precision Garage Door, and they immediately scheduled an appointment for the same day. Joshua arrived on time, was incredibly friendly, and quickly identified the issue. He replaced the track for our belt at no cost, thanks to their excellent warranty policy. The experience reaffirmed why I chose Precision Garage Door in the first place. One of our garage door springs broke over a weekend. Our cars were outside, so we used the online service to make an appointment for the following Monday. Easy to schedule at a convenient time. Joshua called us to let us know he was on his way and he showed up on-time. He was very professional and friendly. We discussed the door issue and he evaluated the entire door operation. We needed to replace both springs. We were advised ( not required ) to replace the 3 bearings on the door too. So we agreed to all repairs suggested, since we hadn't had that service in over 15 years. Joshua finished his work in a little over an hour. He showed us exactly how to grease the garage door springs and rollers to keep the door in good working order. The door works great now and we were very pleased with the interactions with Joshua and his work.

The representative had my garage door issue resolved in about 20 minutes. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. There are two reasons Precision gets a three-star review. Firstly there is a $20 Fleet Transportation fee added to the bill. I inquired about this and was told it’s for gas and the wear-and-tear on the truck involved in driving to appointments. I stated that I wasn’t going to pay this fee. It is a business expense. Joshua was able to give me a discount of the same amount. Lastly the charge is a lump sum total. I asked how much of the total charge was the item and how much was labor. The representative stated that he didn’t know. It’s all together. Since the needed the work completed and it was already finished (the representative could have undone the work and just charged me the initial fee) I paid the total without the breakdown but I felt like the company wasn’t being honest.

On initial telephone contact, I was left with the impression that they could replace the original springs, and they promised a promotional price for the pair. The service tech arrived promptly as promised. But the first thing was that the entire spring system had to changed over to coil springs. Several very expensive parts were needed to perform this. The tech prepared an estimate which included the originally promised spring price and an additional discount. Although the total was much higher than anticipated, and since I can no longer do this kind of work, I gave the go-ahead. On the positive side . . . The service tech was cheerful, friendly, informative and polite. He performed the replacement quickly, efficiently, and safely, completely cleaning up after himself. The result is a smooth running, quiet door. In summary, i can highly recommend Precision for their service and product quality. Just be prepared to pay!
