The springs on our garage door broke on a Saturday morning and you guys were able to get a Technician out that same day. The Technician David was very helpful and informative, he even helped with the installation of the new opener which I had done myself earlier in the day. David explained everything very well and was done with the job quickly. My garage door has never been so quiet. David also showed me how to spray the hinges and other components of the door for routine maintenance in order to keep the door operating at it’s best. Thank you! I would definitely recommend this company to anyone in need of work on their garage doors.

Upselling and Ripoff Prices I followed the many glowing reviews about Scott and Precision Garage Door Service, so had them out to address a likely broken spring (big bang just like a broken spring, but no pieces visible). The good news: Scott came out within a couple hours of my online booking and the trip charge is a very reasonable $20. Also, Scott is a personable, interactive guy who likes to chat. The bad news: The whole trip was devoted to upselling unneeded and horrendously priced services. For each suggested service, it was all done under the guise of: “Well maybe it is a problem and maybe it isn’t, so it is up to you whatever you want to have done.” That is not what I need or expect from an experienced technician. I want to hear what is essential to do, and what is unnecessary. With all their experience, they should know much better than most homeowners. For example, Scott noted that there was some “dirt” around to torsion bar bearings, actually fine metal filings from wear. All true, all normal after 35 years years in service. But there was no sign of binding or free play in the bearings, so no reason to expect trouble. He quoted a price of $176 per bearing plate, noting that garage door parts were horrendously expensive. Bearing plates cost about $10 each at Home Depot or Amazon. The replacement time for two was to be about 1 hour according to Scott. That makes the labor rate for the work of about $300 per hour, more than many doctors and lawyers make. Scott thought that the spring should/could be changed, even though it was not broken and it was installed within the last two years. The cost for that? $392. The time for that work was 1/2 hour to 1 hour. The cost of garage door springs at Home Depot of Amazon? $40-$50. Again, a $300-$600 effective labor rate. My advice: steer away from Precision and find a company that knows what you need and charges what they should.

Hello, I called Precision Door because you have helped me in the past, as well as my sister who lives across town. Both of us were impressed with your service technitions because they were knowledgeable, helpful, courteous and professional. Since my home is 20 years old, I did not want to put more money into fixing something that old with out-of-date technology. Tim went right to work and upgraded the system. Everyone I worked with to purchase a new garage door and opener and a complete total new system with controls installed did an outstanding job. All of the old garage door and system parts were hauled away. On October 25, 2024 Alana Moran met with me and gave me a quote for the cost of the new garage door and opener, and eligible discounts in the cost to perform the installations. Alex Eliopoulos installed the garage door and opener on November 1, 2024 in about 3 1/2 hours, and cleaned up everything and hauled it away. Congratulations to Alana and Alex for the great job they did representing Precision Garage Door Service of Columbus in a courteous and professional way.

Mike McClellan was great. He gave me multiple options for a long term more expensive fix to my problem or a less expensive shorter term solution. I really appreciate that. He did not try to "upsell" which is a pet peeve of mine which many companies do and one that will not make me a repeat customer. I recently had a plumbing company come out unclog a toilet and they tried to sell me brand new toilets rather than fix the issue. I will never use them again. With that said great same day service. The person I spoke to on the phone was great as well. I will use you in the future for any garage door repairs and will promote you to my friends. I wrote a nice Google review as well which I rarely do.

Our garage door spring broke late on a Saturday night, I went to Precisions website, set up an appointment for a 4 hour window first thing on Sunday morning and within thirty minutes had a call and text from Danny that he would be out within 30-45 minutes. Danny was on time, very polite and started to ask questions and look at the door. He took his time to look at the door and call out anything outside of the springs that he would recommend to us. Upon his review he was very clear on what he felt we should look to fix now and what could wait. He did not come off as pushy or selling more to us outside what was most important at that time. Danny was amazing and a great communicator and educator on why he felt this needed to be done now versus what could wait and "maybe" be a problem down the road. I appreciated his honesty and thoroughness. Danny was able to fix our springs, do a few of the extra fixes we went ahead and proactively took care of. He was timely, very easy to communicate with, friendly and did a great job. Garage was just as it was prior to him arriving and cleaned everything up, and most importantly the door was smooth, operating well and quieter than it was prior. Thanks Danny, you were awesome!
