I regret to say we were unable to use your service. I called about a broken spring repair. I was not expecting the price quoted. I have gotten 3 estimates to fix a single broken spring, all inclusive labor etc. A1 Garage Repair: $129.00 Economy Garage Doors: $138.00 Precision: $293.00 I will accept part of the blame for not fully understanding your price before the service technician arrived at our house. However, the $55.00 service fee is out of line. You markup of parts cost is too much. Your costs for labor are too high. I have given 3 star rating only because the technician, Tom, was courteous and professional. I am sorry we were not able to do business. Your pricing is not even remotely competitive. The attempted collection of the $55.00 service fee when no work was performed was tacky. (I know Tom was just doing what he was told to do.) Approximately 20% ($55.00) of your total cost for this service is for absolutely nothing. You really need to drop this fee from your costs.

With respect to pricing, though we're unable to speak for other garage door service companies here in Columbus, our pricing reflects a few very important factors that we feel are crucial when considering a replacement or repair (of any kind) on your garage door. First and foremost is your safety. It's our priority at Precision Door to execute the safest solution for repair. Sometimes this could mean that there may be more going on than what we were initially called out to inspect. When encountering this, we immediately inform the customer, so that they're updated and educated as to why it may be needed. We believe that when it comes to the customer, providing an ultimate solution with an outstanding warranty is best practice. This will result in fewer repairs over the course of time and again, the safest solution. Speaking to the hardware quoted, we always recommend replacing both springs. Like the headlights on your car, if one goes out, the other is likely to soon follow. Your pre-existing (unbroken) spring had equal wear compared to the spring we were sent to replace, so recommending the replacement of both is the safest option. If we were to only replace a single spring, this would increase the work required to lift your door on an already fatigued spring. As a result, this could also shorten the life of your new spring and all surrounding hardware, because they'd be working that much harder to accommodate the spring. Additionally, it's important to consider the quality of the product being installed. Our Precision torsion springs are oil tempered, galvanized and rated at 30,000+ cycles. We'd be happy to further elaborate on any of the hardware that was quoted for repair on our visit. Finally, we'd like to apologize that we weren't able to meet your repair needs, but hope that you'll consider Precision for future garage door repairs.

I chose Precision due to previous satisfactory experience with the company. Service tech was early which worked out well for me. Actually finished the repair faster than I expected. Tim was organized and efficient and answered any questions I had. Very pleased. Also very pleased your company responded the same day I called.

It was after lunch and the garage door would not open. I noticed the broken spring. I dug out the receipt from 2005 when we bought the springs and found there was a life time warranty. I figured it would be days before a technician would be available. When I called, they had an appointment that afternoon. The spring was replaced before dinner that night. And it only cost me a minimum service fee. Thank you Precision Door Service for a job well done.

I had a broken internal spring and Tom came out at the end of July and replaced the spring with a new type and performed all types of service to make it run smoothly including reattaching the board to the garage wall which had come loose. A month later the cable seemed to slip. The company had Tom out within an hour of my call to repair and determine the cause. He was great and did a wonderful job and explained everything. Service was great. Spring broke late Saturday night. Repaired the next afternoon. With all the door hardware being 19 years old it made more sense to do the entire garage door overhaul. Tom explained this thoroughly and showed me the worn cables. Door is much more quite now and has guarantee.

This is my second experience with Precision Door (Columbus, Ohio). I was pleased with the service both times, courteous, efficient, willing to explain how things worked, not pushy about making a sale - Tim gave me only the information I asked for about replacing the garage door rather than bombarding me with extra sales pitch.
